Bio

Richmond→ San Diego, artist Kate Feddersen works primarily in glass and ceramic craft practices. She recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Craft/Material Studies and a B.F.A. in Art Education, along with a minor in Art History focused on Feminist Art History.

Through internships learning marketing, printmaking, studio maintenance, event hosting, gallery preparation, and supporting community-centered art initiatives, and clinical experiences teaching k-5 full time, Kate has a very well rounded experience as an artist and an educator.

She has had her personal work in shows on the east coast, as well as in Florence, Italy. Kate’s practice celebrates the spontaneity and liberation of play, both within and beyond traditional craft processes. Drawing inspiration from her own childhood and from the students she teaches, she centers her work and pedagogy on embracing experimentation and welcoming failure as a catalyst for growth, curiosity, and creative freedom.
